The Kentucky Travel Industry Association (KTIA) has an opening for a President and CEO to lead this statewide membership-based association for travel-related businesses.  Based in Frankfort, Kentucky, the State Capital, this position will develop and implement strategic and tactical plans to raise awareness of the state’s travel industry; advocate for members to affect positive change in important legislative and governmental issues and ensure the industry gets its fair share of Kentucky’s $ 11 billion travel and tourism revenue; provide professional conferences for membership featuring nationally and regionally respected speakers, and implement member benefit programs and services to develop and increase the membership base.  Successful applicants must have a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communication, Tourism and Recreation, Hospitality Administration, or other business field, 7 or more years experience in increasingly responsible roles dealing with tourism, tourism activities, membership development and management, or similar work and experience at the leadership level in incorporating creativity and vision in the execution of plans and objectives.  Applicants must also have demonstrated experience as an organizational spokesperson with government agencies, media, community, service organizations and other influential groups.  Competitive pay and benefits, including relocation assistance.

SUMMARY

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • In cooperation with the Executive Director and Board of Directors, coordinate a local, state and national government relations strategy with objectives that will result in a review of the legislation and a mapping strategy for the lobbying effort.

 

  • Build lasting relationships with key elected officials and their staffs.
  • Advise the Executive Director and the Board of Directors on matters related to services, policies, practices and the operation of the KY Council of ADDs, assisting the Executive Director in a wide variety of activities and events.
  • Serve as a resource to all fifteen Area Development Districts.
  • Exercise the initiative to learn the work and challenges of each ADD, including regular visitation to their facilities.
  • Make presentations in many venues to build support for the broadband planning effort. This includes agencies outside the ADDs and their network.
  • Provide financial and administrative assistance to the Executive Director.
  • Promote the ADDs and the broadband planning effort through a carefully designed, planned and coordinated Public Relations effort to educate the public regarding the mission and work of KCADD. This includes professionally prepared materials, brochures and news releases.
  • Serve as an active member of groups aligned with the mission of KCADD.
  • Remain current on matters important to the success of KCADD through research and reading of ADD related materials.
  • Performs other duties as may be assigned by the Executive Director.
  • Coordinate, update and mange the KCADD website.
  • Edit newsletters, brochures, press releases, legislative materials and other documents.
  • Assist in marketing and promotion of KCADD and KCADD initiatives.
  • Manage all office systems, including computer and telephone network, and electronic backup.
  • Some evening and weekend responsibilities required.

  • Assist Executive Director in regulatory compliance and governmental affairs activities.Extensive travel inside Kentucky and some travel to national and regional events. During the legislative sessions, work can be stressful and demanding.

    Position Summary:
     
    The Executive Director (ED) is the account executive and chief of staff for the association, who reports to the President and to the client’s Board of Directors.
     
    The ED oversees the day-to-day operations of the association, in compliance with standard association management practices, association operating and strategic plans and the bylaws of the association. The ED serves as a non-voting member of approved committees (as necessary) named by the association bylaws and/or created by the Board of Directors; he or she also serves on ad hoc committees and task force committees as required by Board action.
     
    The ED works with the other key department teams to create a successful team relationship with the client. The end result is the successful accomplishment of client goals, objectives and highly-rated satisfaction of management’s services.

    Kentucky Assisted Living Facilities Association (KALFA)
    Executive Director Job Description and Responsibilities
     
    KALFA Executive Director Scope of Services
     
    The primary function of the Executive Director of KALFA will be to assist the Board of Directors in achieving the Association’s goals through promotion, marketing, administrative organization, educational initiatives, public policy advocacy and representation with government officials.
     
    The Executive Director has responsibility to manage and/or coordinate the efforts of KALFA, to serve in an advisory capacity, and to support KALFA directors and members in achieving their goals.
     
    The Executive Director is expected to establish expert working knowledge of KALFA and the Kentucky Department for Aging and Independent Living (DAIL) policies, procedures and programs.
     
    The Executive Director shall manage day to day operations of the KALFA and take a leadership role with the KALFA Board of Directors and members.
     
    The Executive Director is expected to maintain and grow KALFA’s relationships with elected officials and other government officials, as well as build positive relationships with other trade and membership associations with similar public policy interests.
     
    The Executive Director will have the authority to transact everyday business for KALFA, within established policies and procedures.
     
    Management & Leadership
    • Provide guidance regarding adherence to the bylaws and policies
    • Have complete financial knowledge in order to provide cost control, accurate budget forecasting and variance review
    • Facilitate annual budget meeting, providing historical data and sound knowledge of operations

    • Represent and advocate the interests of the KALFA before the Kentucky General Assembly
    • Proactively develop relationships and advocate for the assisted living industry with members of the General Assembly and their staff
    • Develop positive relationships with, and advocate KALFA’s interests before, DAIL and other executive branches that have oversight or the ability to influence the operations of KALFA members
    • Develop positive relationships with other trade and membership associations with similar public policy interests as KALFA.
